Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering

Project Details

Situated at the University of Maryland campus, the Brendan Iribe Center is a six-story instructional and research facility, encompassing 215,600 SF. This cutting-edge center houses intricate, specialized laboratories that support endeavors in augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, and programming, while also serving as the home of the Antonov Auditorium. The building incorporates elements and features that resonate with the university's Neo-Georgian legacy, showcasing brick finishes on both the auditorium and landscape walls. Within the Computer Science and Engineer Center, an interior wall showcases a mesmerizing arrangement of bricks, creating an illusion of fluid, dynamic motion. The Brendan Iribe Center has won numerous awards, including a 2021 Silver Award in the Educational (Higher Education) category of the Brick Industry Association’s “Brick in Architecture Awards.” For this project, Potomac Valley Brick supplied a University Blend and a Handmade brick from Cushwa Brick.
